A school at Namchhe village, in Dhankuta District, eastern Nepal, has been successful to control migration by operating a drinking water project. About 24 families, out of 48 who had migrated to different places of Dharan, Biratnagar and Tarai, have returned after the local school, Gramin Janata Madhyamik Bidhyalaya, installed a drinking water system.
They had migrated to other places as there was a drinking water problem in the village and they had to walk two hours to fetch water.
